jun if you're after a life of fun & happenings, then qatar is not for you. but if you would rather focus your life on building your career, then qatar deserves a second look. qatar's growing economy opens up career opportunities & granted you have good qualifications, more opportunities will come your way.
i'm not sure what you're trying to imply by "mahigpit"??? cultural laws, traffic regulations, etc. sounds normal to me & you how it is on arab countries. but if you're still worried kung mahigpit, try working in sweden.
transfering from riyadh to qatar
i'm currently working here in riyadh and i got a job offer from doha,qatar.
they offer me QR 2,500 housing and QR 750.00 transportation allowance. can i rent a decent room with this amount and is the transportation allowance enough already?
i read and heard that the cost of living in qatar is much higher compare here in riyadh.
i really need some help regarding this matter.

i was in riyadh & khobar before i was stationed in qatar. the only things i find rather expensive here is housing because of the "real estate shortage". although for 2.5k monthly you can get yourself a decent studio with t/b within city limits.
generally, basic commodities here are almost the same with saudi. except for non-gcc made imported goods which are a bit pricey. like fois gras hehehe!
but i suggest that you not worry about this for now. worry about your career path... i mean, yes if you're going to work here, ask yourself "how do i see myself 5 yrs from now". because, the most important thing about your career here is not the cost of living, but on how you will manage to advance your career. what good will it do you if you're still on the same job title after five years???

Mahal ang cost of living sa Qatar.... kung sayo ang pagkain and pamasahe, siguro net mo na lang 1,800 tipid pa yan. Hindi kita tinatakot pero if you are happy where you are, stay ka muna or to live conveniently sa Qatar , at least 3,500 plus allowance salary mo kung sayo pa accomodation and food. Or I advise you to look for a more decent job with better pay.
I just left Qatar two months ago and now back in Philippines.

hello, tanong lang po sana ako. kasi yung bayaw ko nanjan na sa qatar from dubai. Ngayon nabalitaan ng sister ko na may bago na raw siyang asawa jan sa qatar samantalang kasal siya sa kapatid ko. Hindi po siya nagbibigay ng sustento sa mga anak nila ng kapatid ko at nagkandautang utang ang kapatid ko dahil sa pagkakasakit ng mga anak nila na ospital pa.
Ang tanong ko lang sana baka meron naman pong nakakaalam kung ano ba ang dapat at tamang hakbang na pwedeng gawin ng kapatid ko. Pwede ba siyang mag report na may napabayaang pamilya sa pinas ang bayaw ko at pwede ba siyang matanggal sa trabaho niya? maraming salamat po sa mga makakapagbigay ng tulong sa kapatid ko. Salamat po.

ok naman buhay d2..mahal ang bilihin...mahal ang rent ng room at bed space....mahal ang penalty pag nahuli ka ng pulis....ang trapik trapik pa...ang bibilis pa ng mga sasakyan parang d sila namamatay pag nabangga....iwan ko ba bakit napunta pa ako d2..waaaaaaaaahhh uwi na ko next month...tapos na cotract ko eh...pero ok talaga d2 d masyado strikto,,,,parang dubai na rin pwede ka mag go sa church...

i will be turning 5 months here next month in qatar and so far ok nman dito. it's up to you bro on how you motivate yourself to withstand the pressure. dapat parati lng masaya and always think positively para astig.. maganda dito compare sa saudi coz you can't even see bumper and humper in public places unlike here hehehehe...basta gud luck na lng just n case u'll be here ok..cheers!

I would like to seek an advise. I've an offer with Qatar, a petroleum company and the work place is in Ras Laffan.
My working visa is in process na. However, I received a good news with my brother in law, the staus of their application for Canada (miigrating) have been approved. He offered to my wife to take over the Family Business which ran for several years.
This event will give a holding blocks to discontinue my employement with them. Although the visa is still in process. Otherwise I will help my wife to assist to run the business.
I'm hoping if I decided to withdraw/ back-out the employer will understand and consider my concerns.
Your advise wiil be a big help for my decision making.

Ang kailangan lang ng pahintulot ng company mo dito ang pag lipat sa ibang company na nandito rin sa Qatar. Pero pag lilipat ka sa ibang bansa, or uuwi uli sa Pinas, wala kang dapat alalahanin at wala clang karapatan na pigilan ka.

Actually I'm not in Qatar yet, but reading all the comments and info about Qatar, mukhang mas interesting ngang magtrabaho jan compared to where I am right now. I'm sure bearable naman ang humidity at init from July to September. Just want to get your point of view regarding sa job offer na nakuha ko, although it's just a 2-1/2 years Sulfur Facility project in Ras Laffan, at di naman expose sa init. I will be working as Document Controller with a little database designing and customized programming work, sa Common Sulfur Facility Construction Project sa Ras Laffan. Our basic salary plus regular 2 hours OT, 6 days a week work, ranges from QAR 10,000 to 12,000 plus two return economy trips to Manila annually. Libre food, and of course libre ang single-man staff house sa loob ng Ras Laffan Industrial City. I'm sure ang boring lang and tiring is seeing nothing but laborers and workers from Saturday to Thursday sa Ras Laffan, unlike sa Doha where life is almost normal (I said "almost" compared to Manila). How about the prices of appliances and electronics? Mas mura at quality bang di hamak compared sa Manila? Do you have groups and organizations na pwede kaming mag-join sa mga weekend activities? Or hindi kami qualified dahil we work 6 days a week and cannot cope up with the group's schedules? Aside from the fact na sa Ras Laffan kami titira at hindi sa Doha? I guess mas ok mag-join sa mga no-nonsense activities kesa mag bar hopping, kasi magastos. No offense meant, just my personal point of view.

ang HINT: ang Qatar e parang nasa gitna ng SAUDI at DUBAI pagdating sa buhay buhay. So i think hindi tong Qatar ang magiging problema pag nag decide kayo pumunta dito kundi ang sarili nyo.

may work visa na ako dito sa pinas para dyan sa qatar pero nag aalangan ako if okey lang ba umalis na hindi authenticated ang school credentials ko?? san ba tinitingnan yun?? pagbaba ba sa airport nila??? posible bang ground for deportation yun?? or okey lang ihahabol na lang ng family ko via courier??

yap makakapasok u d2 as long as my entry visa u lalo na at working visa yang hawak mo,actually ung authenticated school credentials ay nasa company na yan na naghire sau kng irrequire nila na authenticated mga papers mo,as per qatari govt. regulation ay hindi nmn required yan unlike emirates,.....
